Black of Fort Covington and John Tavernier of Burke were married at St. Mary's Church here Saturday morning, Octover 19. The bridce was dressed in a pale blue suit with hat to match. The bridesmaid wore a gray suit with hat to match. Their attendants were the bride's sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Snyder of Massena. Guests at the wedding were neices and nephews of the bride and Mr. Tavernier's sister, Mrs. Anna Amord, as well as his nieces and nephews. After the wedding the couple and their attendants departed for a trip to Rome and Hamilton, N.Y. They will make their home in Fort Covington on the bride's farm. ------------------ The Fort Covington Sun, Thursday, December 20, 1956 JOHN TAVERNIA, 82, DIES THURSDAY NIGHT AFTER LONG ILLNESS John Tavernia, 82, of Burke died Thursday night in the Malone Hospital after a long illness. He was born in Chateaugay on May 17, 1874, a son of the late Anthony and Mary Dame Tavernia. He was twice married. His first wife, the former Clarida Allard, died in 1945, and his second wife, the former Mrs. Mary Black survives. Also surviving are, three sons, John Jr., of Jacksonville, Fla.; Philip of Burke and Armand Tavernia of Syracuse; three daughters, Mrs. Henry (Mary) Miler of Newark, N.J.; Miss Cora Tavernia and Miss Eva Tavernia, both of New York City; one brother, William Tavernia of Malone; four sisters, Mrs. Mary Wood and Mrs Gertrude Bell of Chateaugay, Mrs. Alice DeLoria of Springfield, Mass., and Mrs. Anna Amord of Malone; six grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Saturday morning at St. George's church in Burke with the Rev. John Stone officiating.
