    Mrs. G.K. Mackie Dies
    Widow of Coal Operator a Long Time Lawrence Resident

    Mrs. George K. Mackie, a long-time resident of Lawrence, died this morning at her home, 1125 W.Campus Road., Funeral arrangements are awaiting the arrival of relatives.

    Mrs. Mackie was the widow of George K. Mackie, coal operator in the Pittsburg area and well known among indistrialists of Kansas. The family came to Lawrence about 1915 and shortly thereafter built a large residence at 1941 Mass. St., which was the family home for many years. Following Mr. Mackie's death bout 1928, Mrs. Mackie continued her residence there until she sold the house to the Lawrence Woman's Club, Feb. 1, 1937.

    Mrs. Mackie is survivied by two daughters, Mrs. Joe E. Daniels, Pelham, N.Y., and Mrs. C.B. Carmain, Lawrence, and by four sons, David Mackie, Kansas City; George K. Mackie, Jr. Pittsburg; Dr. Thomas J. Mackie, New York City; and William R. Mackie, Kansas City.
