Buried 01 Feb 1728 in Longueuil, Montreal, Quebec -------------------------------------------------------------------------- From Garvais/Jarvis Web Page: Mathieu Gervais dit Le Parisien Mathieu Gervais dit Le Parisien (known as the Parisien), was born in the year 1646, son of Pierre (a baker)and Catherine Paillard of St. Maur-le Fosses (which translates as "The Trenches of the Moors") in the bishopric of Paris France. Mathieu was a soldier with the Regiment Carignan-Salieres. The regiment left La Rochelle, France in late April 1665 and arrived in Quebec City on June 18 and 19 of the year 1665. Mathieu was 19 years of age. In August they began a fort at Chambly on the Richelieu River. The majority of the soldiers were young 18,19,20 years of age. | |||||
